Take Control of Your Pain Naturally
Pain can be overwhelming, affecting every part of your life; from work and relationships to your emotional well-being. If you’re struggling with chronic back pain, arthritis, migraines & headaches, fibromyalgia, tinnitus or post-surgical discomfort, hypnotherapy offers a proven, natural way to help you regain control and find relief.
How Can Hypnotherapy Help?
Hypnotherapy has helped countless individuals manage their pain effectively. Hypnotherapy is a scientifically backed technique that uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help reframe your perception of pain. It works by influencing the way your brain processes pain signals, reducing discomfort and promoting relaxation. Many people find that hypnotherapy helps them reduce their reliance on pain medications while improving their overall quality of life.
Here’s the thing.....pain isn’t just physical, it’s also connected to our emotions and stress levels, as well as our social environment. Hypnotherapy works on multiple levels to help you manage pain effectively through:
-
Altering Pain Perception: Hypnotherapy helps your brain reduce the intensity of pain signals, making discomfort more manageable.
-
Deep Relaxation: Hypnosis calms your nervous system, lowering stress levels and helping to ease muscle tension that contributes to pain.
-
Emotional Healing: Anxiety, frustration and depression can make pain worse. Hypnotherapy addresses these emotions, helping you develop a more positive mindset.
-
Cognitive Reframing: By shifting your thoughts and beliefs about pain, hypnotherapy helps you regain control rather than feeling like a victim of your condition.

This was Janet’s story (Grannie to 4 in the UK)
I visited my dentist with a very painful and loud clicking of my jaw when I was eating, so much so, that I had resorted to only drinking soup! My dental specialist diagnosed me as suffering from TMJD (Temporo-Mandibular Joint Dosorder). He recommended and showed me jaw exercises which I followed regularly but they didn’t relieve the awful pain. I visited a physiotherapist, on several occasions, who was an expert in this field but sadly the very painful manipulations only relieved it slightly and after a short time, I was back to square one.
Now, this is where Claire came in on the scene. When it was explained to me how the treatment worked, I was really quite sceptical. How could something so painless and on the face of it, so simple, be so transforming?
It must be 18 months now since my visit to Claire, and as yet, I still have no pain, but I would be heading straight back to her door if needed!

Here is just a small fraction of the extensive research in this area:
1. Meta-Analysis reviewing the use of hypnosis for alleviating clinical pain.
Milling LS, Valentine KE, LoStimolo LM, Nett AM, McCarley HS. Hypnosis and the alleviation of clinical pain: a comprehensive meta-analysis. Int J Clin Exp Hypn. 2021 Jul-Sep;69(3):297-322.
Summary: This meta-analysis reviewed 42 controlled studies on the use of hypnosis for alleviating clinical pain. The analysis revealed medium effect sizes for pain reduction, with the average participant receiving hypnosis experiencing greater pain relief than approximately 73% of control participants. The authors concluded that their findings strengthened the evidence that hypnosis is a 'very efficacious intervention for alleviating clinical pain.' PubMed+1PubMed+1
2. Hypnotherapy produces significant analgesic effects across various pain outcomes
Thompson T, Terhune DB, Oram C, Sharangparni J, Rouf R, Solmi M, Veronese N, Stubbs B. The effectiveness of hypnosis for pain relief: a systematic review and meta-analysis of 85 controlled experimental trials. Neurosci Biobehav Rev. 2019 Apr;99:298-310.
Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis analysed 85 controlled experimental trials involving 3,632 participants. The findings indicated that hypnotherapy produced significant analgesic effects across various pain outcomes, with the most pronounced benefits observed in individuals with medium to high hypnotic suggestibility. These findings suggested that hypnotherapy can deliver meaningful pain relief for most people and therefore may be an effective and safe alternative to pharmaceutical intervention for pain management.
3. Hypnotherapy significantly reduces pain intensity
Adachi, T., Fujino, H., Nakae, A., Mashimo, T., & Sasaki, J. (2014). A meta-analysis of hypnosis for chronic pain problems: A comparison between hypnosis, standard care, and other psychological interventions. Clinical Journal of Pain, 30(6), 500–507.
Summary: This meta-analysis reviewed 18 studies and concluded that hypnotherapy significantly reduced pain intensity, especially in cases of fibromyalgia, headaches, and musculoskeletal pain.
4. Research on significant pain reduction with fibromyalgia
Zech, N., Hansen, E., Bernardy, K., & Häuser, W. (2017). Efficacy, acceptability and safety of guided imagery/hypnosis in fibromyalgia – A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. European Journal of Pain, 21(2), 217–227.
Summary: This meta-analysis reviewed randomized controlled trials and found that guided imagery and hypnosis significantly reduced pain and improved psychological outcomes in patients with fibromyalgia.

2. Hypnotherapy effective at reducing short and long-term headache in migraine sufferers
Flynn N. Systematic review of the effectiveness of hypnosis for the management of headache. Int. J. Clin. Exp. Hypn. 2018;66:343–352. doi: 10.1080/00207144.2018.1494432. [DOI] [PubMed] [Google Scholar]
Summary: This study demonstrates that hypnotherapy and relaxation techniques are effective in reducing short- and long-term headache activity in migraine sufferers.
3. Clinical hypnosis is a well-established and effective treatment with headaches & migraines
Hammond D.C. Review of the efficacy of clinical hypnosis with headaches and migraines. Intl. J. Clin. Exp. Hypn. 2007;55:207–219. doi: 10.1080/00207140601177921. [DOI] [PubMed] [Google Scholar]
Summary: This research concludes that it meets the clinical psychology research criteria for being a well-established and efficacious treatment and is virtually free of the side effects, risks of adverse reactions, and ongoing expense associated with medication treatments.
4. Hypnosis is of benefit in the treatment of headache
